The first Villars-Gryon Official Jumping Competition will take place from July 2-10.
The Villars-Gryon Jumping Competition will be the first summer equestrian contest held in a resort; it will be followed by those in the neighbouring towns of Megève, Verbier and Sion. The event will be held in the Place du Rendez-Vous, in the heart of the village. Spectators are invited to watch free of charge.
Thirty competitions are on the programme, among them two six-bar competitions, one knock-out competition (separate competitions) and as a grand finale, Sunday July 10, the Grand Prix SII category qualifier for the Swiss Elite Jumping Championship 2012. The best Swiss Romand rider in this competition will be granted a wild card for the Geneva International Horse Show (CSI-W de Genève) 2012.
Friday July 8, after the knock-out competition, spectators can attend a golf-cart race in which the drivers will be well-known personalities. Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3, two competitions will be presented by the "Horse Men" featuring an attempt to beat the world-record high jump. Saturday July 9, a parade of classic cars as well as an aperitif will be organised on the competition course.
