The Sound Of The Alps "Alpentöne" comes to Altdorf in Uri Aug. 12-14.
During these three days in August, musicians from the whole European alpine region present their contemporary, authentic and creative projects. Alpentöne presents folk music with modern influences of classical, jazz, avantgarde, and even rock music.
The contents of Alpentöne's programme stay true to the alpine music. Alpine music in traditional and modern forms will be played together or opposite each other.
Local music groups present their programme beside international and high-class musicians on three performance stages. The stage located in the Lehn square is free and open for the local people and visitors. On Sunday afternoon, the nature reserve Reuss Delta will be trnsformed into a melodious "cloud" with the music performed by several music groups during the sonorous "walk".
The Uri region, legendary home of William Tell, stretches from the Lake of Uri up to the 3000-metre-high mountaintops. The lakeshore is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and hikers. The most popular walk in the area is the Swiss Path which stretches 35 kilometres all the way round the lake. Visitors can take one of the cable railways up to the sunny hills or mountain summits to enjoy panoramic walks.
