The Provence Alpes-Cote d'Azur region has been awarded the "2010 Golf Destination of the Year" by the IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators).
The IAGTO met in November last year where the 300 golf tour operators from 49 different countries casted their votes. This is the first time that this award has been given to a French region.
The Provence Alpes-Cote d'Azur offers the Provence Golf Pass which gives access to 16 courses spread across the region. The pass takes the form of a booklet containing three or five green fees, available all year-round and sold at a fixed price. It gives access to three or five courses selected from the 16 taking part in the scheme.
Charges vary according to the season. April 1 to Oct. 31: three green fees €165 and five green fees €275. Nov. 1 to March 31: three green fees €135 and five green fees €225.
The golf pass also features a selection of suitable accommodation facilities, from all categories: hotels, châteaux, guest houses, self-catering, and camp sites.
Provence offers amateurs and professionals a host of opportunities to play. The courses are set at high altitudes with stunning views over mountains, meadows, forests, and the Mediterranean Sea.
