The villages of Kitzbühel, Aurach, Reith, and Jochberg are some of the most popular holiday destinations in the Tyrol. There are 500 kilometres of walking routes. Popular trails include the nine-kilometre Seven Fountains route which extends through the village of Jochberg; the 13-kilometre Alpine Flower Trail with its 300 different species of flower; and the 15-kilometre Kaiser Trail with its panoramic views of the Wilder Kaiser and Zahmen Kaiser mountain ranges.
The 105 kilometres of running circuits is divided into 15 different running routes of different lengths and levels. The running routes pass picturesque scenery like pretty parish churches and hamlets, crystal-clear lakes, mountain streams, and pine forests. The deep blue lake of Schwarzsee is ideal for swimming, boating, fishing, and circular walks. It also is one of the warmest and most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alps.
The 750 kilometres of cycling and mountain bike trails crisscross around the valley and high alpine regions, passing lush green meadows and the mighty Kitzbüheler Horn peaks. Highlights include the panoramic Bike Safari - a loop trail in the Hahnenkamm area - which offers stunning views of the Hohe Tauern Mountains, the Grossglockner peak, and the Wilder Kaiser massif.
Kitzbuehel is the golfing centre of the Alps. The five courses include Schwarzee, Eichenheim, Rasmushof, Kitzbuehel, and Lärchenhof, all of which are set against the panoramic Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbühel Alps. The area has various golf schools and academies for all age groups and players looking to improve their handicap. The fresh mountain air of the Kitzbueheler Alps offers an ideal setting for relaxation and wellness breaks. The region features a range of Alpine wellness spas complete with saunas, beauty treatments, solariums, massages, and health services.
The town of Kitzbuehel is a picturesque Tyrolean village. The historical quarter is lined with cobbled streets and historic architecture, while the buzzing modern center offers a wealth of shopping and nightlife. Shopping ranges from exclusive boutiques to market stalls selling souvenirs. The town is dotted with street cafes in which to watch the world go by. The nearest airports to Kitzbuehel are Salzburg and Innsbruck, about an hour's drive away. There is a wide range of scheduled flights, including many low-cost airlines. Alternatively, all international express trains stop at Kitzbuehel.
