Val Gardena is offering several outdoor events this summer: a folk festival, and a mountain marathon.

The Folklore Festival in Ortisei, Val Gardena returns Aug. 7. Each year the festival brings merriment in the form of a folklore procession and feast organised by different local folklore associations. The topic of this year's parade is "Tourism in Val Gardena: yesterday and today".

The Val Gardena Extreme Marathon is a mountain running race which takes place Sept. 4. The race track stretches from Ortisei to the Rifugio Toni Demetz. Contestants can sign up for one of two races: the Val Gardena Extreme Classic (€30 entry fee) and the Nordic Walking Race (€25 entry fee). Payment must be made prior to Sept. 2
